Stamford Group's business will be the acquisition and management of life settlement policies. Life Settlements have been growing in popularity as a means of private investment in the past years. In 1998, an estimated $13.2 trillion of individual life insurance was in force. It is estimated that only a small fraction (less than 1.21%) insures the lives of individuals with a life expectancy of less than 10 years. However, this small fraction still equates to an estimated market potential of$160 billion. Institutional investment in life settlements exceeded $500 million in 1999. There is clearly a new asset class emerging, which utilizes the intrinsic value of life insurance. This new asset class is known as Life Settlements.

Stamford Group will operate in the secondary market and acquire policies that have already been sold by the primary insured individuals. Opportunities to acquire policies at discounted rates occur on a regular basis in this secondary market. Stamford Group has the experience and capability to obtain these policies on an ongoing basis.
